With a continued proliferation of challenges in government and not enough resources to address them all, many government leaders recognize the opportunities inherent in harnessing Web 2.0 technologies not just to help them get elected, but to help them do a better job. By analogy, many are calling this movement "Government 2.0."
The conversation being framed around Government 2.0 looks to transcend right vs. left, big vs. small government partisanship. Instead, we frame the conversation in terms of how successful government is as a platform.
Gov 2.0 Expo, happening in May 2010, will showcase the real-world application of Web 2.0 technologies in government and municipal sectors, featuring a practical program that will teach government employees and contractors how to apply technology best practices to government programs, and in turn introduce new companies and individuals to the government market.
